The Transfiguration has to be high on Peter, James, and John’s top ten list of amazing experiences with Jesus. Jesus takes them up a mountain to pray but instead, they fall asleep. Scripture says that when they “become fully awake”, they see Jesus like never before. Not only that, they actually hear the voice of the Father. This experience strengthens them and prepares them for the difficult road ahead as Jesus turns his gaze toward Jerusalem. This story is encouraging for each of us, knowing that God’s desire for each of us is to become fully awake to Jesus, to his love for us and to his presence in our lives.

4 Ways to Take This Offline:
- Pray a decade of the rosary while meditating on the fourth Luminous Mystery – The Transfiguration. Then take five minutes of silence and just listen.
- Read the “red letters” of the Gospels. The “red letters” are the words that Jesus actually speaks. In some versions of the Bible, they are printed in red instead of black. If God the Father says, “Listen to Him”, then let’s read and listen to what Jesus actually says.
- Make a visit to a chapel with the Blessed Sacrament at least once a week. This is the same Jesus that shone in dazzling white.
- Think of someone whose voice you know so well that you recognize their voice as soon as they begin to speak. Say a prayer for them and then ask the Holy Spirit for the grace to recognize Jesus voice throughout your day.
