Its so easy to assume God loves the way that human beings love. We assume God will only love us if we do good things, and that God won’t love us if we do bad things. We think we need to fight for God’s attention, and we hope He will take a glace at us if we do things that will make Him proud. We assume His love is temporary, conditional, contractual, or even worse, not real. It can be so easy to start believing the lie the devil whispers in our ears, “God doesn’t love you, God will never love you.“
God does NOT love the way human beings do. In the words of Isaiah, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the LORD.“ (Is. 55:8) God has given us proof of His love – God sent His only Son to us, to save us, not because we deserved it or because we did enough good things, but simply because He loves us!
Even when we don’t feel God’s love, even when we can’t see it, even when we think we don’t deserve it, even when everything around us tells us we are unlovable, God will never stop loving us fully, eternally, and unconditionally. If you need a reminder, keep your eyes fixed on the cross of Jesus – the final and indisputable proof of God’s amazing love.
