Greatest Commandment

March 20, 2018 by Lauren Gates 3 Comments

SCRIPTURE – Today’s video is based on Mark 12:28-34. Here is an excerpt. “The first is this: ‘Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

REFLECT – All of us have carried the wounds of original sin, and all of us are in need of healing of some kind. If we want to be the kind of person who loves our neighbors as ourselves and loves God with our whole hearts, we first need to go to God and ask Him to heal us. We can’t give what we don’t have, and to spread God’s love, we need it ourselves. What area of your life needs God’s love and healing the most? Don’t keep it from Him, call out to Him urgently and He will run to you.

SHARE – Spend some time asking God to fill you with His love and healing grace, and to then show you who to take that love to next.

PRAY – God our Father, Divine Physician, come into my heart and reveal to me what still needs Your healing. I offer you my entire heart. Please heal me and fill me with Your love, so that I can share it with the people around me. Amen.

Prediction of the Passion

March 12, 2018 by Lauren Gates 5 Comments

SCRIPTURE – Today’s video is based on Mark 9:30-32, here is an excerpt. “The Son of Man is to be handed over to men and they will kill him, and three days after his death he will rise.”

REFLECT – Through his Passion, Jesus proves to us that he means what he says — he loves us at our darkest, when we are most hurt, and when we feel the most lost. His suffering is his proof that he won’t ever abandon us.

SHARE – Do you feel like God has forgotten you in your struggle? Find a crucifix and spend some time sitting with God while thinking about Jesus’ passion.

PRAY – Jesus, I know you understand suffering, and you see the suffering of my heart. You are my consolation, you are my peace. Please hold my heart. Amen.

Can Jesus Really Heal Me?

March 15, 2017 by Lauren Gates 2 Comments

Thought for today:

Miracles happen. God can, and does heal us when we ask for it. Sometimes God will heal our physical ills, and sometimes He will give us the grace to endure them. No matter what healing you need, our God is ready to run to you, to touch your heart and heal you. All we need to do is pray for His healing, and then to trust with expectant faith that our God will do as He promises.

Action for today:

Pray a Hail Mary every time you hear or see an ambulance today. Pray for first responders, and for the people they are helping.

Prayer for today:

Jesus, I trust that you can heal me. Please give me the grace that I need to keep going.

Quote for today:

blog post Fr. Joe (1)

“A leper came to him and kneeling down begged him and said, ‘If you wish, you can make me clean.’ Moved with pity, he stretched out his hand, touched him, and said to him, ‘I do will it. Be made clean.’ The leprosy left him immediately, and he was healed.” – Mark 1:40-42 (CLICK TO TWEET)

Go, and Sin No More

March 9, 2016 by Andy Lesnefsky 1 Comment

Fr. Joe Freedy #shareJesus go and sin no moreI used to tell my oldest son, “don’t do that, because you’ll get hurt and then you have to go the hospital.” He would normally stop doing whatever he was doing, because he did not want to go to the hospital. It seemed effective, until his aunt ended up in the hospital for a couple weeks. While she was in the hospital he said to me, “Aunt Natalie must’ve done a lot of bad things cause she’s been in the hospital for a while.” I decided at this point it was time to stop saying that.

In the beginning of the Scriptures, Satan tells Adam and Eve, “surely you will not die if you eat the fruit from the tree.” Was God lying to them when he said they would die? Adam and Eve don’t die an immediate physical death. However, there’s a great reality we face that sin really does cause death. I don’t know how your Lent has been going or what you’ve been dealing with. I know this for sure though, sin equals death. If we don’t encounter mercy like the woman caught in adultery, we will spiral out of control.

Today Fr. Joe invites each one of us to experience God’s mercy and go and sin no more.

3 Ways to Take This Offline:

  1. If you aren’t already, get in the habit of making a daily examination of conscience. Think about both the ways you have seen God at work in your life each day at the end of the day and the ways that you have sinned.
  2. If there’s a particular sin in your life that you continually struggle with make an effort this Lent to do something different to overcome that struggle.
  3. Find someone who can help keep you accountable to the areas you want to grow spiritually.

My God is LOVE

April 1, 2015 by Andy Lesnefsky Leave a Comment

Today in a special way we remember the humility of our God. Not only does Jesus become man, but he’s willing to perform the role of slave and wash the feet of the disciples. If that’s not enough, he’s willing to give us himself fully by becoming what looks like bread and wine that we will consume. He’s willing to come inside of you and me and dwell within us in the Holy Eucharist. His love is fully poured out to us  as we receive Him.

For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many.

Fr. Joe Freedy 2 #ShareJesus blogNot only are we in Holy Week, but today begins the celebration of the Easter Triduum, the Holiest of days for us as Christians. There’s so many distractions in life but during these days refuse to miss out on what God has for you. Don’t allow distractions and busyness to take you away from celebrating and living the reality of the Triduum. God not only became man, he came to give himself completely to YOU. He is love and his greatest desire for your life is for you to experience the reality of this LOVE.
