REFLECT – Have you ever stopped to consider how important names are? Your parents deliberately chose your name, and how it is part of your identity and how you relate to others! If you are confirmed, you had to deliberately choose a confirmation name, which became part of your Catholic identity. Names are powerful – they reveal an intimate part of ourselves that opens us up to relationships with each other!
Jesus goes by many names, especially around Christmas: Emmanuel, Messiah, Son of God, Son of Mary, etc. But how telling and how beautiful that the first name we ever hear him called, is simply “Jesus.” His true name and his true identity are revealed to us from the start because of the intimate nature of the relationship he wishes to have with us.
SHARE – Call upon the name of Jesus today, and reflect on the power and intimacy of knowing his name! Consider other names of Jesus, and pray about what those names reveal to you about God’s love for you!
PRAY – We want to invite you to pray the Litany of Trust with us at the beginning and end of each day. Click here to download the litany.
