THIS WEEK: “I have something stuck in my nose!” Those were the words of my screaming 3 year old two nights ago at three o’clock in the morning. I was not alarmed because I knew that she was trying to explain her nasal congestion that came on as she was sleeping. She, however, was sure something was lodged in her nose. The screaming continued for about 5 minutes before we could calm her down.
I feel like I am the child screaming at God sometimes. It’s not that I am angry; I just know exactly what I think is wrong. I simply need to tell him how to fix it. Luckily, Jesus knows what I need even when I think it something else.
I love this Sunday’s gospel. This is partly because I love stories of those who encounter Jesus, but in particular I love blind Bartimaeus. He knows exactly what he needs and even though he is blind, he runs to Jesus. My prayer this week is that Bart, I would know my need for Jesus and that nothing would stop me from yelling out to him and ultimately, running to him.
I would like to introduce you to my good friend Joe Killian. I think you’ll love his #ShareJesus video. Check it out and comment below:
IDEAS FOR SHARING
Taking it off-line.
- Identify one way that you really need Jesus in your life. Seek to do something tangible this week to address that.
- The crowd tells Bartimaeus to be quiet. How can you be more encouraging to someone that you know who is seeking to grow in their relationship with God?
- Pray for our daily series which starts in Advent.
- Start praying for people that you want to invite to be a part of #ShareJesus.
