SCRIPTURE – Today’s video is based on Mark 9:33-37. Here is an excerpt: “Then he sat down, called the Twelve, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to be first, he shall be the last of all and the servant of all.” Taking a child he placed it in their midst, and putting his arms around it he said to them, “Whoever receives one child such as this in my name, receives me; and whoever receives me, receives not me but the One who sent me.”
REFLECT – I think the idea of being a servant is an uncomfortable thing, yet Jesus reminds us that true greatness is found in service. A good servant gives of themselves selflessly. Today, think about what it means to both put others first and to be obedient to Jesus.
SHARE – Go out of your way to serve someone but not be noticed.
PRAY – Jesus, your Sacred Heart is pure selfless love. Today, let me receive that love so I can live out of that love. Allow me to serve and not count the cost but keep my eyes fixed on you. Help me to be obedient like you were. I give you today. Amen.
