Trust is the love language of God.” Sr Faustina Maria Pia, SV
I want to introduce a prayer to you today that’s both simple and profound. In some ways, this prayer has been transforming me since I started praying it.
It’s called the Litany of Trust. As we start Advent this week, I wanted to invite you to begin praying it. We suggest that you pray this prayer in the morning and at night for Advent, but you can start praying it today.
From the belief that I have to earn Your love
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear that I am unlovable
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the false security that I have what it takes
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear that trusting You will leave me more destitute
Deliver me, Jesus.
From all suspicion of your words and promises
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the rebellion against childlike dependency on You
Deliver me, Jesus.
From refusals and reluctances in accepting Your will
Deliver me, Jesus.
From anxiety about the future
Deliver me, Jesus.
From resentment or excessive preoccupation with the past
Deliver me, Jesus.
From restless self-seeking in the present moment
Deliver me, Jesus.
From disbelief in Your love and presence
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of being asked to give more than I have
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the belief that my life has no meaning or worth
Deliver me, Jesus.
From the fear of what love demands
Deliver me, Jesus.
From discouragement
Deliver me, Jesus.
That You are continually holding me sustaining me, loving me
Jesus, I trust in you.
That Your love goes deeper than my sins and failings, and transforms me
Jesus, I trust in you.
That not knowing what tomorrow brings is an invitation to lean on You
Jesus, I trust in you.
That you are with me in my suffering
Jesus, I trust in you.
That my suffering united to Your own, will bear fruit in this life and the next
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You will not leave me orphan, that You are present in Your Church
Jesus, I trust in you.
That Your plan is better than anything else
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You always hear me and in Your goodness always respond to me
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You give me the grace to accept forgiveness and to forgive others
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You give me all the strength I need for what is asked
Jesus, I trust in you.
That my life is a gift
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You will teach me to trust You
Jesus, I trust in you.
That You are my Lord and my God
Jesus, I trust in you.
That I am Your beloved one
Jesus, I trust in you.

~Your friends from CT
I would so appreciate it if you pass on my profound gratitude to Sr. Faustina. I’ve had a lot of things go wrong in the past few months, and Tuesday night I was in a very, very bad place emotionally and spiritually. On Wednesday a colleague from my parish sent me the YouTube video of Sr. Faustina sharing her reflection on this topic as well as reading the Litany. Immediately, the words struck me squarely between the eyes – they were exactly the feelings I have been struggling with so badly. I decided to speak to my priest, after which I went into the church to pray and reflect. The last thing I did was kneel at the steps of the altar and pray the words of this Litany aloud. Tears poured down my cheeks just as I poured my heart out to God. I cannot express the depth of my appreciation to Sr. Faustina for being an instrument of God, presenting his message to me at exactly the time that I needed to hear it. I just want to share with her and all your readers how the ripple effects of sharing these posts/videos/prayers CANNOT BE UNDERESTIMATED. God needs every one one of us to be his hands and his feet. If you feel any prompting whatsoever to pray for someone, to pass something along – Do. Not. Hesitate. My colleague printed the litany for all of us who work at the parish, and I even made an audio clip from the YouTube video of Sister reading the Litany (her voice is reverent, prayerful, and very calming to listen to and pray with). Thank you again.
Andy,
Thank you for all you do to help us grow closer to God!
God bless you
