We can’t be both our own Lord and make Jesus Lord at the same time. A friend of mine was angry at God that things weren’t going the way he thought they should. I asked him point blank, “Have you surrendered to God?”
He responded quickly, “No.”
It is hard to blame God when we hold on to control. Don’t misunderstand what I am saying here. It doesn’t mean that when we surrender ourselves to God and give him control and permission that life becomes easy or everything goes right.
We don’t believe in a prosperity Gospel. This is the belief that if you follow Jesus you will be rich and blessed materially in this life.
However, we do believe in a radical Gospel. The core of the gospel is that we are loved unconditionally by God who extravagantly seeks us out, not even sparing his own son from death. God loves you perfectly.
In return, Jesus says, “Follow me.” He tells the fishermen to throw aside their nets. Surrender. Today in our last video of our Easter series I want to encourage you to throw aside whatever you are holding back from God. Give him permission and let him be your Lord and your God.

Easter is the story of new life and transformation. Jesus is the not the only character in the story of Easter.
Peter reminds us that each of us of is a character in the story of salvation history. We are invited to experience that transformation in our life as well.
