The Eleventh Station: Jesus is Nailed to the Cross

April 7, 2019 by Andy Lesnefsky 2 Comments

Opening Prayer: We adore You, oh Christ, and we praise You, because by Your holy cross You have redeemed the world.

Reflect: Consider Jesus, thrown down upon the cross, He stretched out His arms and offered to His eternal Father the sacrifice of His life for our salvation. They nailed His hands and feet, and then, raising the cross, left Him to die in anguish.

Prayer: My despised Jesus, nail my heart to the cross that it may always remain there to love You and never leave You again. I love You more than myself; I am sorry for ever having offended You. Never permit me to offend You again. Grant that I may love You always; and then do with me as You will.

Is it All About the Money?

March 15, 2019 by Andy Lesnefsky 1 Comment

Reflect: “God has no need of your money, but the poor have. You give it to the poor, and God receives it.” -Saint Augustine

We give alms because we recognize the blessing of God. Giving isn’t so much about our generosity as it is acknowledging God‘s generosity to us and surrendering to him.

Share: Make an intentional donation today to help the poor.

Pray: Jesus, you are so generous to me. Thank you for all the blessings you’ve given me and for your constant provision. Help me to surrender everything, especially my finances, to you. I give you control of my day and my life. Amen

Holy Saturday

April 15, 2017 by Lauren Gates 4 Comments

Thought for today:

Because we are post-Ascension Christians, we know Jesus’ story doesn’t end with his death. The apostles however, didn’t know that yet. When Jesus appears to them and challenges them to let go of their unbelief, he is speaking to us as well. Have we doubted anything Jesus has said or done? Do we live our lives as if we know our God has a plan for us? Do we live out the love of Christ fully?

Action for today:

Amid the business of preparing for Easter Sunday, take some time in silence to reflect on the times of our past when the Word of God has been spoken to us, and we’ve chosen not to believe, and instead of believing, we “move on” and leave God behind, out of our plans and out of our lives.

Prayer for today:

Lord, come. Come and teach me to live your Word. Let Your will be done, not mine. Lord, I pray, give me faith.

Quote for today:

blog post #sharejesus ralph

“Today a great silence reigns on earth, a great silence and a great stillness. A great stillness because the King is asleep. The earth trembled and is still because God has fallen asleep in the flesh and has raised up all who have slept since the world began . . . ‘I order you, O sleeper, to awake. I did not create you to be a prisoner in hell. Rise from the dead, for I am the life of the dead.’ ” – Liturgy of the Hours for Holy Saturday

It’s not too late to invite someone to Easter Mass with you, or to your house for Easter dinner! Consider doing both!

Soccer Was My God

March 26, 2017 by Lauren Gates 1 Comment

Thought for today:

Its easy to think that people are holier than us. Its easy to look at popular Catholic speakers, priests, and sisters and say “I’ll never have a relationship with God like that, they understand things I don’t, or they’ve had life experiences that I can’t have. ” On one hand, that’s true — you won’t have the same experience of God as others. But that doesn’t mean God wants you any less! He is actively using your life to call you closer to Him! Your journey of holiness is going to look different from others, but the end goal for everyone will be the same: eternal life with Him!

Action for today:

Write down a list of saints, and prominent Catholic figures that inspire you. What do they have in common? What do you admire about them? Instead of looking at these people as unattainable models of holiness, learn from their example. Let their lives inspire you to live more faithfully. Maybe add a new daily devotion modeled after a saint you love, or find new ways to serve the people around you, as the Catholic speakers motivate you to! Let the Holy Spirit show you what you need to know about God through these holy people, and then let Him activate it in your life!

Prayer for today:

Holy Spirit, come into my heart. Fill me with the fire of Your love!

Be a Hero today – #ShareJesus:

Share the words of a Catholic saint or speaker you admire with a friend. Tell them how this person motivates you to work on your relationship with God.
