Crucifixion and Death

March 29, 2018 by Andy Lesnefsky 7 Comments

SCRIPTURE – Today’s video is based on Mark 15:22-32. Here is an excerpt “Then they crucified him and divided his garments by casting lots for them to see what each should take. It was nine o’clock in the morning when they crucified him.”

REFLECT – God died. This is scandalous. It’s our story. It’s a common image of the most uncommon love. Do you believe that God could love you this much?

SHARE – Even if you can’t make it to church today, spend time today before a crucifix contemplating the love Jesus has for you.

PRAY – We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you because, by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world. You are holy and yet, you love me, a sinner. Jesus, your love overwhelms me. Thank you for the cross. Thank you for remembering me in your suffering and death. Let the love and the reality of the cross change my heart and my life today. Amen.

Watch today’s video featuring Fr. Mike Schmitz.

Why did Jesus do that?

February 14, 2018 by Andy Lesnefsky 3 Comments

SCRIPTURE – “It happened in those days that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized in the Jordan by John. On coming up out of the water he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit, like a dove, descending upon him. And a voice came from the heavens, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.” Mark 1:9-11

REFLECT – As we journey through the Gospel of Mark, ask questions. Questioning what is happening or why Jesus is doing something allows us to seek deeper understanding of who Jesus is.

SHARE – Consider your mission this Lent. Who has God created you to be? Be intentional in sharing your faith with those in your life and pray for at least 3 people by name each day this Lent who you would like to share Jesus with.

PRAY – Jesus, help me to understand my own baptism. I desire to live as priest, prophet, and king in a world that desperately needs to know you and your love. Help me believe that I am your beloved. I want to hear your voice in my life. Amen.

Your Story Matters

March 1, 2017 by Lauren Gates 2 Comments

Thought for today:

Everyone has their own personal faith journey, and everyone has their own personal story of God entering their lives. Your story matters because you are significant in God’s eyes. He gave you your story. Just because your story isn’t as dramatic as others, doesn’t mean it’s not worth sharing.

Action for today:

Ask a friend (or two) about their faith story. Reflect on how God revealed Himself to you, and how He continues to draw you to Himself.

Prayer for today:

Jesus, help me to see the beauty of my story. Remind me how Your love and mercy have brought me joy. Show me how I can use my story to bring Your love to others around me.

Quote for today:

Be a Hero today – #ShareJesus

Our heroes are people who take risks each day to share their faith. Here’s a simple idea to help you do that: If there is an opportunity for you to share part of your story today, do it! Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the words you need.

What are Ash Wednesday and Lent really about?

February 9, 2016 by Andy Lesnefsky 3 Comments

Fr. Mike Schmitz #ShareJesus What is Ash WednesdayLent means “springtime.” You have to imagine that God appreciates the irony of this when this Springtime is a very cold Winter.

Ash Wednesday isn’t a holy day of obligation, but it’s more attended than Mass on most holy days. Why? I believe people want a springtime. We want to know God is real. We want to wake up to the reality of his love. This Lent focus on what counts and who counts.

Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Let God show up  in unexpected ways as you share Jesus with others. Have an amazing Lent.

Fr. Mike delivers a powerful message today, watch it here:

3  ways to take this offline:

  1. Go to Ash Wednesday Mass but don’t go alone. Bring someone with you.
  2. Pray. Spend some extra time in prayer today.
  3. Share. Find one way to share your faith with at least one person today.
