Why do we call Jesus “Christ?”

March 14, 2017 by Andy Lesnefsky 6 Comments

Thought for today:

Why are names so important? What does it mean to you to call Jesus “Christ?”

Action for today:

Pray the name of Jesus throughout the day. It’s the simplest prayer you can make. “Jesus.”

Prayer for today:

Jesus. Your name has power. Heal me. Jesus, you are the Christ. Help me believe.

Quote for today:

blog post #sharejesus Bob Lesnefsky

“To holy people the very name of Jesus is a name to feed upon, a name to transport. His name can raise the dead and transfigure and beautify the living.” – John Henry Newman (CLICK TO TWEET)

Be a Hero today – #ShareJesus:

Ask someone if there’s something specific you can be praying for them for today.

Glory of the Cross

March 16, 2015 by Andy Lesnefsky Leave a Comment

Pete Burak #ShareJesus blogHindsight is a funny thing. Often we find ourselves looking back on a situation that we thought was more than we could bear, only to see it was a blessing from God in disguise. When we are in the middle of suffering, it is very hard to see the good that will come out of it, or see how God could be working to bring us through it. Even when we know that suffering can be good for us, we avoid it at all costs. We are drawn to the good and the glory, but shrink away from the suffering we might have to go through to get there.

In today’s video, Pete Burak (@PeteBurak10) talks about how as humans we are drawn to glory, but at first it’s hard to see how the cross, suffering, and death of Jesus would lead to anything glorious. Yet the paradox isn’t too big for our God!!

Quick Social Media Tip for today:

What do you share? Like? Retweet? These are good questions to consider when formulating your posts when you are attempting to share your faith. Are they written in a way that if you saw them you would consider sharing or liking them?

For sharing on Social Media today:

1. Where is God in your daily trials? How is He reminding you of His presence?

2. Are you more focused on the suffering you are enduring, or on glorifying God in your trouble?

Sharing Offline

  • When listening to someone else’s suffering today, offer them encouragement and point out ways that God might be leading them through this to a greater glory.
  • When people ask how you are, make a point to talk about your blessings first, before talking about your suffering.
  • It is easy to get annoyed with others who seem to complain about their life often. Make a point to pray for these people, and encourage them.

Whatever you face today, God is present. If God’s glory can be seen in the cross, it can be seen in the mess of our lives too.

I Can’t See Jesus

March 15, 2015 by Brian Kissinger Leave a Comment

We’re getting close to the end. The 12th chapter of John’s Gospel comes just before the Last Supper narrative, and we see the contrast between the Greeks who want to see Jesus (John 12:21) and His own people who are blind to His identity (John 12:40).

courtney brown blog #ShareJesusFrom Genesis on, we encounter the stories of people much like us. They desperately wanted to see God, but they were also afraid of being seen by Him. In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus points to the paradox of the cross. He will be glorified when He is made vulnerable on Calvary. Humanity will see the feet of God nailed for our offenses. We will see the back of God beaten for our brokenness, and we will see the face of God disfigured for our sake.

Vulnerability is a terrifying thing. Even with those we love the most, there is always an element of fear in revealing our hearts to another. And yet this is what we are called to as followers of Jesus.

Today, Courtney Brown shares about vulnerability, our desire for it and our fear of it.

Quick Social Media Tip for today is from Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI:
“In social networks, believers show their authenticity by sharing the profound source of their hope and joy: faith in the merciful and loving God revealed in Christ Jesus. This sharing consists not only in the explicit expression of their faith, but also in their witness, in the way in which they communicate “choices, preferences and judgements that are fully consistent with the Gospel, even when it is not spoken of specifically”
For sharing on Social Media today:
1. Who is one person that has shown you unconditional love?

2. When have you experienced the unconditional love of Jesus in the sacrament of Confession or the Eucharist?

  • Be vulnerable with Jesus in prayer today. Don’t hide your heart from Him.
  • Thank someone today who has loved you faithfully and shown you God’s love.
  • Let someone know that they are appreciated today.

Sometimes we miss seeing God because we are so busy. Don’t be so busy today that you miss what God is saying to you!

Say Goodbye to Time

March 12, 2015 by Brian Kissinger 1 Comment

Can you believe that Easter is just over 3 weeks away? For those of us on the East Coast, the endless winter is finally (hopefully) passed us and signs of spring are showing up. Maybe your Lent is going really well and the time seems to be flying by, or maybe the past few weeks have gone by really slowly. Time is strange like that. Often the most enjoyable experiences in our lives seem to happen so fast, while we watch the seconds pass slowly through the math classes of our lives.

Jim Beckman #ShareJesus blogAs we approach Holy Week, the theme of time keeps coming up. We worship the Eternal God, we believe that Heaven is eternal joy, and Jesus offers eternal life to those who follow Him. It’s hard to wraps our minds around eternity when everything we experience is passing and fading. And yet we have hope in Christ’s promise of eternal life, a life beyond this world with joy and love that know no end.

Today, Jim Beckman (@JimImpact) shares about the reality of eternity, our deep desire for eternity, and Jesus’ invitation to eternal life.

Quick Social Media Tip for today:

Your story with Jesus is important. Tell it today in an authentic way.

For sharing on Social Media today:

  1. When have you experienced a taste or a glimpse of eternity? When have you had a moment that you were overwhelmed with pure joy?
  2. What is one way that you try to accept Jesus’ invitation to eternal life?
  3. What is one movie, song, or poem that you’ve found where the artist or creator expressed the innate human desire for an experience of eternal joy?

Remember a Facebook Video share from our page is better than a Youtube Link on Facebook.

  • Ask the Lord to increase your desire for Heaven.
  • Share with one person how you have experienced new life and hope in Jesus.
  • Pray for someone who has died and pray that they would experience eternal life in Heaven.
  • Dare to ask Jesus in prayer what things are hindering your relationship with Him.

Eternity means life with no beginning or end. God invites us to life of the best kind. Don’t wait for heaven to experience this.

The Meaning of Life

March 11, 2015 by Andy Lesnefsky 1 Comment

Flowers, new life, love…what are the things that make you smile about spring? I love that feeling of the first really warm day when you know summer is just around the corner. Spring is an exciting time of year in many ways.

Sean Forrest #ShareJesus blogLent literally means “spring.” We have had crazy winters all of over the US, so it may not feel like spring where you live, but we are called each Lent to a new springtime in our faith. God wants to bring the newness of life into your heart this Lent. Have you taken the risk to let Him?

One of the questions, Sean Forrest (@Realseanforrest) asks is what are you waiting for? Have you said yes to the Lord in a new way this Lent? God is always greater than our imaginations and always calls us closer to Himself in new ways.

The good news is too good to keep to yourself. Share it today!

Sharing Online

#ShareJesus daily goal: two posts: one with the video and one without.  Don’t forget to use the #ShareJesus with each post.

Remember: Sharing Jesus isn’t a compartmentalized thing we do. We should share Jesus with or without #ShareJesus in our posts. What I mean by that is all we do on social media should glorify God. Don’t use it for gossip or pride or tearing people down. Let’s seek to bring Jesus into every aspect of our lives and actions.

On Social Media today consider these questions:

  • What does it mean to say yes to God? How have you done that?
  • In your own words what is the meaning of life?

Are you following us on Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Pinterest?

Don’t forget on Facebook, please share the video from our Facebook page. This way you’ll get a lot more views than if you share a Youtube link on Facebook.

From Twitter please use the Youtube link https://youtu.be/M5_5gjvtZlQ with your posts and don’t forget to RT our tweets.

Taking it Offline

  • Use the question, “What’s the meaning of life?” as a discussion starter today. Listen first before sharing.
  • Challenge a fellow Christian to make a commitment along with you to grow more in your faith. Ask them to hold you accountable to this decision.
  • Continue to pray for those who you want to share the Lord by name with over Lent.

“Jesus is the one who brings God to us and us to God. ‘Put on Christ!’ in your life, and you will find a friend in whom you can always trust; ‘put on Christ’ and you will see the wings of hope spreading and letting you journey with joy towards the future; ‘put on Christ’ and your life will be full of his love; it will be a fruitful life.”  –Pope Francis

Say yes to the Lord today. Life is too short not to. #ShareJesus today!
