Healing of the Hemorrhaging Woman

March 2, 2018 by Andy Lesnefsky 2 Comments

SCRIPTURE – Today’s Video is based on Mark 5:21-24. Here’s an excerpt: ͞You see how the crowd is pressing upon you, and yet you ask, ͚Who touched me?͛͟ And he looked around to see who had done it.”

REFLECT – Despite the busyness of Jesus, he stops to see who touched him. He knows that a healing has taken place. The healing isn’t one single moment. It is also an invitation to a relationship. Just as Jesus sought to speak to that woman he healed, he longs to encounter you today in prayer.

SHARE – As you plan to go to Mass this weekend, reach out to a friend or family member to let them know that you will be praying for them at Mass this Sunday.

PRAY – Jesus, I want to encounter you today. Help me to be bold and brave like the hemorrhaging woman and reach out to touch you. Let me trust you more and believe that you are waiting to encounter me. I give you my day and my life today. Amen.

Watch today’s video featuring Karen Reynolds, president of Dirty Vagabond Ministries.

Call of Levi and Jesus’ Ministry to Sinners

February 20, 2018 by Andy Lesnefsky 1 Comment

SCRIPTURE – Today’s Video is based on Mark 2:13-17. Here’s an excerpt: “‘Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ Jesus heard this and said to them, ‘Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.'”

REFLECT – God has come for sinners and this is excellent news. We should never forget that we need God. He has created us for himself, with a longing for and a need for him. How do you recognize your need for God in your life today?

SHARE – Like Jesus shares a meal with Levi, plan to share a meal with someone this week and share with them what God is doing in your life.

PRAY – Jesus, I need you. I long to know you more deeply and to invite you into my life like Levi. I give your permission to come into my life more. I give you this day. Thank you for meeting me where I am at today. I love you. Amen.

Conquer Your Fear

August 10, 2017 by Lauren Gates 2 Comments

If you were Peter, would you have gotten out of the boat when the Lord commanded him to come?

Peter is easily the most passionate apostle in the Gospels. He’s the first to speak when the Lord asks who they say He is, he’s ready to hack the high priest’s servants to pieces when they try to take Jesus away, he adamantly refuses to believe that he would ever deny Jesus, and there are many other examples of Peter’s love of the Lord. But even Peter, in the story of Jesus walking on the water, expresses his doubt.

“Lord, IF it is You, command me to come out on the water.” Seeing the humanity of Peter is beautiful, and his honesty is refreshing — we all have our doubts, we all struggle in our faith at times. But the Lord still honors Peter’s faith, and commands Peter to come, even knowing he may be doubting.

Despite his fear, despite his doubt, Peter steps out in faith (literally) and to the surprise of everyone, walks across the water towards Jesus.

In today’s video, Karen challenges us: what fear is keeping you in the boat? What fear do you need to overcome to go where the Lord is asking you to walk?

The Woman At The Well

March 12, 2017 by Karen Reynolds 2 Comments

Thought for today:

Jesus is passionately in love with you. He knows you intimately and desires to quench your thirst. He has forgiven your past and wants to fill your future with His love and mercy just as He did the woman at the well. This lent lay your jar by the well and run into His arms.

Action for today:

Today take a few minutes and honestly bring before God those things that you use to quench your thirst that keep you from Jesus.   Then set up a time to go to confession.

Prayer for today:

Lord you know everything about me and your still love me!  Lord help me trust you, to believe that you are enough to quench my thirst.  Open my heart and fill  me with your living water!

Quote for today:

“Pray with great confidence, with confidence based upon the goodness and infinite generosity of God and upon the promises of Jesus Christ. God is a spring of living water which flows unceasingly into the hearts of those who pray.” – St. Louis de Montfort (CLICK TO TWEET)

Be a Hero today – #ShareJesus:

Take a bottle of water to a homeless person and tell them God has not forgotten them.  Ask their name and pray for them.

Leave Everything and Follow

February 6, 2016 by Karen Reynolds 1 Comment

Karen Reynolds #ShareJesus Leave everything and follow

Often times everything in our life can feel bleak.   We feel trapped in a situation or we feel like a failure.  Maybe some of us feel like we have committed a sin that God cannot forgive.

Well guess what? You are not alone.   The Scriptures are full of stories of people just like you and me who are facing often facing difficult, hopeless circumstances.

In today’s Gospel we get a glimpse of a time when Peter felt like a failure.   He had been working all night and yet hadn’t caught any fish.   Then here comes this preacher, Jesus, who turns his world upside down. When Peter is obedient to Christ and puts the nets into the deep not only does he catch fish but he realizes who Jesus is the Messiah.   When Peter encounters Christ his life is changed.  He drops his nets and leaves everything behind to follow Christ. Today Christ is asking you to put out into the deep, to truly encounter his transforming love and leave behind your failures and hopelessness.

4 Ways to Take This Offline:

  1. Do you know someone who is struggling today?  Be bold reach out to them and share with them the hope and love of Christ.
  2. Do you know someone who has been away from the Catholic Church?  Set up time to get together with them to listen and invite them back to the Church
  3. Encourage a friend to go into the deep with you.  Decide to read a book together about the saints or pray a rosary together
  4. Take your faith life deeper by going to mass one day during the week.
