We throw the word love around a lot. We also have heard the phrase “God loves you” so much sometimes it can seem like a bumper sticker catch phrase. Love is not just some simple emotion but a reality God has shared with us in words and deeds.
As Jesus suffers he thinks of you. He’s crushed with not only the immense pain of the cross but of the weight of our sin. Ultimately we see love literally poured out on the cross. He suffers death to pay a price, the price of our sin.
I had an interesting conversation on Facebook with someone the other day about whether or not Jesus forgave Judas. God’s mercy, love and grace are hard to fathom, but he takes even the sin of Judas to the cross with him. It’s hard to believe that he would willingly die for his betrayer.
The reality of His suffering and death is that it pays a price we cannot pay. Forgiveness was won for even Judas on the cross. Judas’ decision was whether or not he could accept this. There is no sin Jesus can’t forgive, but we need to choose to accept the reality of his forgiveness in our lives. He offers you new life. Will you seek and accept his forgiveness? Will you allow new life to be a reality in your life this Easter?
Today #ShareJesus features Kathleen McCarthy today contemplating his unimaginable pain and what he went through.
