It’s a terrible feeling to realize you smell. Maybe it’s the end of a long day where you’ve been in the sun and all of a sudden you realize something reeks. Then the realization comes. “Is it me?” My favorite personal move is “the pretend I am scratching my chin on my shoulder but really smelling my armpit” move to see if I am what smells. I hate those days when I realize my deodorant quit before me.
As Christians we shouldn’t reek of sadness and gloom. The tomb is empty so we need to get out of it. Pope Francis said there is no room in the church for Christians who are sour faced pickles. We mark ourselves with the sign of the cross but our lives should be marked by the reality of the resurrection. We need to be a people of joy.
I believe more often than not we celebrate the season of Lent being over more than we celebrate Easter. What are you doing to keep the Easter reality at the forefront of your life and walk with the Lord? The purpose of Lent is a new springtime to lead us to the new life of Easter. Don’t let Easter be the post Lent letdown. Commit to celebrating and praying Easter in a new way this year. Perhaps it’s time we ask ourselves what are we doing for Easter even more than we ask ourselves what are you doing for Lent.
I pray #ShareJesus for you continues to be a life style and not just a Lenten fad. The gospel must be proclaimed 365 days a year!
Quick thoughts for sharing in social media:
1. What does it mean to see Jesus in a new way for you?
2. How are you keeping the celebration of Easter alive?
Taking it offline:
1. Ask people how their Easter was. When they ask you back use it as an opportunity to share about your faith in some way.
2. Encourage someone in your life who needs a bit of encouragement that new life is possible this Easter.
3. Make a commitment to grow some way this Easter.
Glad you are continuing along this journey with us. On Friday, I will send you a note about a post I am really excited to share about 3 lessons I have learned from #ShareJesus. Keep the Easter joy alive in your heart. #ShareJesus
