Does God Really Love Me?

March 24, 2017 by Andy Lesnefsky 2 Comments

Thought for today:

God wants you to know his love in a real and tangible way today.

Action for today:

Take an extra 5 minutes of prayer today and ask God to help you understand his love for you.

Prayer for today:

Jesus, I know you love me, but still I struggle to believe this at times. Help me to understand what this reality means in my life today. I love you. Help me receive your love today.

Quote for today:

Are You Testing God?

March 6, 2016 by Lauren Gates 1 Comment

Paul George #shareJesus Are you testing GodWhen my relationship with God was still in the beginning stages, I found myself praying a lot like this: “Hey God, I know you’re real, and if you grant me this one thing I will follow you forever, and give you all my allowance money…” etc, etc, etc. I didn’t know it at the time, but I was trying to manipulate, or bribe God into giving me what I want.

Thankfully, God knows what’s truly best for us, and His deepest desire for us is to have relationships with Him based on trust and love, not manipulation and bartering.

Paul George shares an awesome story, and great perspective on this very thing in today’s video.

4 Ways to Take This Offline:

  1. Analyze your prayer. Be conscious of the way you ask God for your petitions. Are you using manipulative language? Pray that God’s will is done before all else.
  2. Think back to someone you have judged recently. Say a prayer that their needs will be met, and if you feel called to, go reconcile with them.
  3. Nothing makes us “get out of ourselves” more than almsgiving. Give, and give well. That is, give out of your need, not out of your surplus.
  4. Recommit to your Lenten sacrifice. If you’ve been staying faithful to your Lenten commitment, add an extra 10 minutes of prayer, or fast from sugar/caffeine, or do some other sacrifice today to heighten your desert experience.

3 Tips to Survive Christmas

December 22, 2015 by Paul George 1 Comment

Paul George #ShareJesus 3 Tips to Survive ChristmasGod, in his wisdom, comes to us in the midst of this crazy world and in the midst of our lives.  We can see this unfold in Sacred Scripture and come to understand that Jesus came in a day and in a time that was just as chaotic, busy, and evil as our world today.  Certainly times were different then…there were no cell phones, paved roads, world travel or any of the modern day things we have today.  But there was just as much turmoil, just as many distractions and just as much temptation to “get ahead” as there is today.  Thus we come to understand in a deep way that God desperately wants to be with us and to transform our world from the inside out.

The Season of Advent comes at a time every year that “our busyness” is ramping up right before the Holidays.  However, in the Church’s wisdom Advent calls us to slow down.  So how can we both be so busy and also slow down?  Doesn’t one always win out?  Yes, and this is why Advent is a season and not a day because over the season of Advent we are called to slow down and to enter into God’s story.  Why?  Because God wants to enter into our world, transform our lives and give us the joy, peace, love and hope we long for.  This time of year Jesus want us to encounter him.  For some of us it may be a rediscovery of God’s love for us and for others it may be a new discovery of who God is and his plan for your life.  Whatever it may be was is evident for all of us is that God is just as desperate to love us today as he was two thousand years ago.

What we all have more in common then being busy is the reality that we belong to God and we are His daughters and sons.  Just like a few years ago my plan this Advent is to ask myself (during this busy season) the questions that will allow me to be honest with God so that I can slow down and experience His love, hope, joy, peace and mercy this Christmas.  I hope and pray that you will do the same.  Happy Advent everyone and Merry Christmas…let’s slow down together and experience Jesus in a new way this year.

Love – Paul

Do this today:

  • 1. Pray, 2. Comment ANSWER THIS: How can you slow down a bit this year?  How can you experience God this Christmas?  How can you discover, rediscover and experience the power of Jesus this Christmas?
     3. Like the Video, 4. Share.
4 tips from Paul to take this offline:
  1. Read the Gospel stories of Jesus birth from the synoptic Gospels of Matthew, Mark, and Luke.  Reflect on the power of this amazing miracle.  Pray about how you can share this story with others.
  2. What are ways that you can simplify your life so that you can be more in tune with God’s voice?  Find some practical ways that you can begin to shed away some of the distraction in your life.
  3. Pray about how you can be more attentive to the poor….how can you serve, give and love those in need….both the physically poor and the spiritually poor.  Begin to reflect on how you can learn more about The Blessed Mother….how is Jesus inviting you to love his mother Mary more?
  4. Take some time during the Christmas season to experience the power of the Sacraments…go to Eucharistic Adoration…attend Mass outside of Sunday obligation….and receive God’s mercy in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Eating with Lepers

March 24, 2015 by Andy Lesnefsky Leave a Comment

I hate getting sick. Even more than I hate getting sick, my wife hates when our children get sick. Little kids getting sick are often like dominos and you are just waiting for the next one to fall. We use so much Lysol in our house that we should look at buying stock in it.

Paul George ShareJesusIn Jesus’ time leprosy was one of the most terrible sicknesses you could contract. Literally your skin would fall off. While it was often a death sentence, it meant for sure you would have a life of being an outcast. Jesus doesn’t follow the norms of his day and hangs out with people that no one wanted to hang out with. We see in this Sunday’s reading of the passion that Jesus reclines at the house of Simon the Leper.

If you knew your death was imminent, you would hang out with those you love. Jesus obviously loves this Simon. Today, Paul George (@paulgeorgeii) examines why Jesus chooses to hang out with the people he does and what we can learn from his actions.

How can I hear God?

February 26, 2015 by Brian Kissinger 4 Comments

Where is your quiet place?

It’s been amazing to hear the feedback so far about #ShareJesus. Men and women from all over the world are responding to the videos, and more importantly, encountering Jesus Christ through your efforts.

God longs to speak to you. #ShareJesus Most Christians would quickly claim that prayer is essential to following Jesus, but so often our time spent in prayer is mostly us speaking to God. To be sure, the Lord wants to hear from us. But do we give Him time to speak to us? Do we really believe that He desires to speak to our hearts in a way that we can really hear Him? As we were reminded on Wednesday, an important aspect of prayer is learning to listen to the voice of God. In prayer, we need to make room for Him to speak.

In today’s #ShareJesus, Paul George offers 3 tips for how we can hear the Lord speak to us. We’ve got to spend time daily disconnected from distractions (including the internet!) to create a quiet place in which Jesus can speak to our hearts.

Have you given Jesus room to speak to you today? Where is your quiet place where He can speak?

Sharing Online

Are you following us on Facebook? Twitter? Instagram? Pinterest?

Evangelize today by being social with the Gospel. #ShareJesus today on Social Media. Aim for at least two posts today: One with the video, one without always using #ShareJesus.

Remember

  1. We can’t share what we don’t have ourselves. Make sure that you are taking time to listen to the Lord today.
  2. Our incredibly connected world is still desperately longing to hear the voice of God. Your sharing of the Gospel message isn’t just a nice idea, but it is an arrow pointing to the Lord who alone can satisfy our deepest desires.

On Social Media today consider these questions:

  • What is one thing that you’ve heard the Lord speak to your life?

  • How and where do you find a quiet place to hear Jesus speak?

  • What is one Scripture verse that has spoken clearly to your heart?

Don’t forget on Facebook, please share the video from our Facebook page. This way you’ll get a lot more views than if you share a Youtube link on Facebook.

From Twitter please use the Youtube link http://youtu.be/qfRiQMxXTz4 with your posts and don’t forget to RT our tweets.

Taking it Offline

  • Share a prayer request with 3 people today.

  • Make time for listening in your prayer today.

  • Fast from some “noise” in your life today (texting, music, TV).

  • Be present today. Spend some time listening to people that you encounter, whether it is your spouse, a friend, or the cashier at the grocery store.

  • Continue to pray for those who you want to share the Lord with over Lent.

“Therefore, I will allure her now; I will lead her into the wilderness and speak persuasively to her.” Hosea 2: 16 God longs to spend time with you today! #ShareJesus
